• Client:Hanson
  • Type:Ship to shore conveyor

Hanson Aggregates had recently invested in a new dredger called the Arco Dijk which unfortunately couldn’t discharge at Dagenham Wharf due to the off-loading conveyor system on the dredger not being able to reach the existing ship to shore conveyor.

Thor Atkinson Steel Fabricators Ltd were commissioned to design, fabricate and install a new ship to shore conveyor capable of discharging material from the dredger at 2000 tons per hour.

The new conveyor was fabricated in our workshop, galvanised and then transported to the jetty at Dagenham Wharf where it was constructed. In order to get the conveyor in place, we commissioned GPS Marine to carry out works on our behalf. This included removing an existing walkway, reducing the level of the supporting piles and modifying their tops in readiness for the conveyor. Utilising the barges and a barge crane we were able to move the conveyor round and lift it into position ready for use by the Arco Dijk.
